Thanks in no small part to social media, trends are now born overnight. And while they might start off life as micro movements, there are five trends in particular that are gaining serious steam right now.

Bags have been erring on the refined side of things over the last few months, but they’re about to take an edgy turn this spring with the addition of chunky chain straps. & Other Stories may have kick-started this trend on the high street at the end of 2019, but H&M’s sold-top shirred top has made it a 2020 cult buy. It’s no coincidence, then, & Other Stories’ black style has just been restocked. Chain necklaces might have been the biggest bijoux trend on the runways, but as far as the Instagram set is concerned, springtime is all about the signet ring. That’s right, the ’90s style staple just got even more throwback, with fluffy textures proving a hit in fashion circles. Gingham will always be a warm-weather hit, and this year things are taking a brighter turn. Picnic prints in primary colours are proving all the rage right now, and, when they look this pretty, it’s not hard to see why.
